The brief
A client purchased a house and, for economic reasons, renovated it in several phases. She handled most of the work herself, but to create her dream bathroom, she hired me. The entire home is designed in the Polish Art Deco style of the 1920s, with modern elements, and the bathroom was to reflect this aesthetic as well. The project’s challenge lay in the bathroom’s unusual layout, difficult angles, and low floor level, which dictated the maximum tile height we could use. Additionally, the bathroom needed to accommodate numerous personal items and cosmetics, as well as a small utility area for laundry and a mop.

Meeting the brief
Knowing that ample storage space was needed, I decided to utilize one of the sloped areas for a built-in unit that discreetly houses a laundry basket and mop, blending seamlessly with the slope. Storage for toiletries is very important to the owners, so I created a tall cabinet extending from floor to ceiling, replacing the current, less functional drywall installation. The cabinet under the sink features two spacious drawers. To maintain the Art Deco style, I chose walnut-colored veneer and incorporated rounded edges into the cabinet design. Next to it, there is also space for three towels, one for each family member. Above the toilet and bidet, I added additional storage. This design maximizes space without making it feel cluttered.
